THE FIRST STEP TOWARD ANY ADOPTION IS A COMPLETED APPLICATION WHICH YOU WILL FIND ON OUR WEBSITE AT www.colliesheltierescue.org.  THE MORE INFORMATION YOU CAN SHARE WITH US, THE BETTER WE CAN HELP GUIDE YOU TO A PERFECT MATCH FOR YOUR FAMILY.

Little Butternut is an 9-week old smooth Collie puppy that arrived on 10/29 to one of the infamous Illinois hoarder confiscation purebred Collie mamas.  She has been cuddled and held and loved and beautifully socialized since her first breath.  Foster mom Julie and her adult kids took on the monumental task of nurturing Daisy (the smooth tri mom) and helping her through her pregnancy and birthing process.  Whew!!

Butternut's looks are elegant, being a tri-headed white smooth coated Collie.  She still has a double coat, as do all Collies, but grooming will be easier and the Collie fur that floats around your house will be shorter.  LOL  Butternut's face with its wide stripe, large black ears and alert expression will tug at your heart.  She loves to be outside, weather permitting, running and playing with her littermates.  And she has the cutest head tilt with those ears perked up when you whistle or talk to her.  What a lovely puppy! And did we mention she can fly?!

Families with prior Collie experience will be given preference in placement.  And having another fun-loving canine to teach Butternut about all the things a good dog should know is a plus also.  A securely fenced yard is required.  An excellent reference from your veterinarian.  And either a home visit or digital photos of the fenced yard and interior of your home.

Bring happiness home with your next best friend.

From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email. You then will receive a follow-up phone call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. Lots of good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out the screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously.  Please put a lot of thought into why you want to adopt a dog, and help us make a good match for your family. We appreciate your taking the time to visit with us. We will look forward to hearing from you as well.
