THE FIRST STEP TOWARD ANY ADOPTION IS A COMPLETED APPLICATION WHICH YOU WILL FIND ON OUR WEBSITE AT www.colliesheltierescue.org. THE MORE SPECIFIC INFORMATION YOU CAN SHARE WITH US ABOUT YOUR LIFE, THE BETTER WE CAN HELP GUIDE YOU TO A PERFECT MATCH FOR YOUR FAMILY. Monk (as in Thelonius for you jazz afficionados) is an 8 week old tri-colored rough Collie puppy. He is cuddly, playful and showing good interest in toys and his littermates. He also likes playing with two full-sized Golden Retrievers and his foster mom and dad. He is eating Fromm puppy formula three times a day with occasional snacks when he can get them. Monk has strong opinions and is very outgoing. He will be a spectacular adult dog, not only in looks but also in temperament. Rocky Mountain Collie and Sheltie Rescue pays for all of the required veterinary care for Monk including his neuter which will occur at about 1 year of age. (That is a mandatory neuter and not up for debate.) Monk would enjoy the company of an adult Collie or other well-mannered and companionable pooch to teach him the things that all good dogs should know. And he needs to have an adult that works from home or is retired so that his puppy energy is channeled in appropriate ways. We will give consideration to previous Collie adopters and those with prior Collie experience. If we feel your family situation is a good potential match for Monk, we will call you for a telephone interview. We require a fenced yard and a fabulous reference from your veterinarian. We also will do a home visit or may accept digital photos if a home visit is difficult to arrange. A rough Collie puppy is a gentle and sweet-natured creature that will never do well with harsh words or treatment. Well-mannered children over about 8 years old would be great fun for him but no toddlers please. Let's work together to find the best possible home for Monk.
