Learn more about the Shetland Sheepdog Sheltie.
Foxy is a 5-year-old spayed female Sheltie that is ready to find the family that will be hers for the remainder of her life. Her "mom" adored her and made each new day a special one for her Shelties. But, sadly, Foxy's mom died and no one in the family was able to care for her or the other dog. We are proud to be able to help in this kind of situation. Foxy is happy and healthy and ready for adventure. Her bloodwork is fabulous and she is heartworrm negative. But she does need to lose quite a bit of weight. She has already gone down from 41# to about 37#. But she still needs to lose about 10# more. 1/3 cup lowfat kibble with green beans and a little pumpkin, twice a day, with regular walks should do the trick. We cleaned her teeth and they are white and gleaming with no extractions. Please don't let the weight loss program scare you away. We have to do it fairly often with our little Sheltie friends. Foxy's foster mom describes her as affectionate and obedient. She is also a bit of a talker but reminding her that not everyone likes to hear Shelties bark can be helpful. (I have been known to threaten pooches with a squirt bottle if necessary.) She trots happily along on her leash and settles nicely beside you if you should choose to stop for a cup of coffee at Starbuck's. She gets along well with other dogs but we don't know about cats. And she has not spent much time around kids but well-behaved older children should not be an issue. Applications first please.
