Collie (long coat) : : Male : : Senior : : Large
Hello, my name is Prince Charming and guess why? My foster mom said I could charm the pants off everyone I meet. As you see by my pictures, I charmed my transport driver. I am a kid magnet and get along well with other dogs and even those pesky cats.
My foster mom wants you to know that if you are looking for a barking, bouncing-off-the-wall, young pup who will have accidents in the house, will chew up your best shoes and will snatch your lunch from the kitchen countertop keep looking. Prince is not the right match for you. On the other hand, if you want a quiet, calm, fully housetrained, easy going guy whose is best described as the perfect collie, then read on!
Prince previously lived with children and other pets and was an indoor/outdoor dog. Prince came to PC/SR when his family moved and could not take him with them. From the moment he arrived, this laid back boy seemed to feel right at home, getting along well with the other dogs and cats and acting like the perfect houseguest. His foster mom says that he is so well mannered that she can leave him alone without any fear of destructiveness, misbehavior, or accidents. Prince knows sit and shake, walks nicely on leash and knows how to use a dog door. He likes to pretend he is a watchdog and sounds the alarm when strangers come. Of course once he has given his warning bark, he immediately makes friends with the would-be intruders! He likes to go for car rides and settles down to quietly enjoy the ride.
He eats with the other dogs and shows no sign of food aggression. Although his foster home does not include children, Prince has lived with kids and would be fine with children who are old enough to understand that a mature collie like Prince will not want to participate in rough and tumble play. Given the obvious ease with which Prince acclimated to his foster home, we are sure that he would have no trouble adjusting to almost any environment. Other dogs, cats, whatever this easy going boy will make himself at home in your house and your heart. Prince is no longer a pup, at 8 years young but like a fine wine that has mellowed to perfection!
If Prince sounds like he would be a perfect match for your family we would love to hear from you. Our first step toward adoption of this “special” collie is a completed application which you will find on our website at www.pueblocolliesheltie.org. The adoption information section will answer many of your basic questions and help you understand our process better. We will be back to you by e-mail or phone because we are looking for just the right “match” for each dog as well as for each family. Thanks for looking!
Please begin the process for adoption by reading our Adoption Policies and, if we sound like the right group for you, fill out our online Adoption Application. From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email. You then will receive a follow-up phone call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. Lots of good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out the screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously. Please put a lot of thought into why you want to adopt a dog, and help us make a good match for your family. We appreciate your taking the time to visit with us. We will look forward to hearing from you as well. |
