Learn more about the Shetland Sheepdog Sheltie.
Being All Hallow's Eve, we were not sure if this little Sheltie would be a trick or a treat. We can now tell that in less than 24 hours, she has proven herself to be the latter. Her new name is Gwen and she weighs about 20 pounds. She gets along with our cat and our dogs and seems housebroken. She likes to cuddle for short periods of time on the bed at night, lounges on the couch, goes up and down stairs very well and is a real treat to have as a house guest.
She seems about 3 - 4 years old and a pretty well adjusted and socialized little lady. Gwen is a little skittish, but she is still settling in here. She walks fine on a leash and seems to know the 'sit' command. Gwen gets in and of the car by herself, but does seem a little nervous while the car is in motion. More information to come as we get to know her. We will take her to the vet for base blood work, heartworm test and check for any other medical needs she may have.
Please begin the process for adoption by reading our Adoption Policies and, if we sound like the right group for you, fill out our online Adoption Application. From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email. You then will receive a follow-up phone call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. Lots of good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out the screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously. Please put a lot of thought into why you want to adopt a dog, and help us make a good match for your family. We appreciate your taking the time to visit with us. We will look forward to hearing from you as well. |
