Collie (long coat) : : Male : : Senior : : Large
My Buddy, my Buddy, nobody quite so true. Buddy is a glorious 10-year-young neutered male rough-coated collie. He has the beautiful face of a puppy and a youthful spirit to go with it. Perhaps he has stayed so young because he was the stud for a dynasty of collie puppies, twice a year every year until the poor little female was completely worn out. He is a wonderfully protective big sweet boy that has never met a stranger. In spite of his just recent neuter, he has not offered to mark a single time in his foster home. And until November 15th of this year, he had never been inside a house. He was filthy and matted and had no idea what a treat was or what a dog bed felt like. But he is making up for lost time! And he is dazzling all of the humans that come to meet dogs with his charisma.
Buddy had a dental at the same time he was neutered and his teeth are white and flawless with no extractions. His vaccines have been updated and he is microchipped. His sable merle coat is coarse from years of crummy food but without the dreadlocks, he looks pretty darn good. He has a light blue patch in his right eye that shows the world his recessive genetic background. And the litters he sired were mostly blue merle puppies, once again showing the recessive genetics. His significant other (girlfriend) came to us with Buddy and he is quite gentle and loving with her. Now that he can think about other things beside “making whoopee” he has learned to sit, snuggle and take a treat gently from someone’s hand. He seems to be reliably housebroken but may need some reminding in a new environment. He enjoys breakfast and dinner and never forgets to say thank you. All in all, this is one awesome dog.
We will list Buddy and his lady friend separately to see what the universe has in store for them. But if someone was to fall in love with both of them and offer to keep them together, we would certainly consider that as well. When a seven-year-old girl came to visit Buddy and Cherub, the dogs were thrilled beyond words. They have adjusted beautifully to the other adult dogs in their foster home and they arrived with the last pup from their final litter and were quite gentle with her too. So, for some enlightened humans who will see Buddy for the amazing dog he is….bless your hearts. He was not put on this earth to make puppies for profit. He is a collie. Collies are the most wonderful companions a person can ever share their life with. Please look into his eyes and then fill out an application and ask me how to make him yours. He is waiting.
Please begin the process for adoption by reading our Adoption Policies and, if we sound like the right group for you, fill out our online Adoption Application. From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email. You then will receive a follow-up phone call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. Lots of good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out the screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously. Please put a lot of thought into why you want to adopt a dog, and help us make a good match for your family. We appreciate your taking the time to visit with us. We will look forward to hearing from you as well. |
