Collie (long coat) : : Male : : Adult : : Medium
Dallas, the consummate Collie, clearly displays the unmistakable temperament that is pure Collie....he is gentle, well-mannered and extremely intelligent. A stunningly handsome burgundy-shaded sable and white rough coated fellow, Dallas will surely turn heads everywhere he goes. In his prime at 5-years-old, he weighs only 42#. Until he gains another 5 pounds or so, a general anesthetic might be dangerous. We will hold off on his neuter surgery until Dr. Alsobrook at Franktown Animal Clinic gives us two thumbs up.
Rather quiet and pleasantly obedient, Dallas wants very much to please his foster family. He loves to go on walks with a buckle collar or harness and does very little tugging or pulling. He responds to commands, smiles and friendly gestures equally well. He relishes hanging out with the "family", be it human or canine.
We can only speculate, but it seems that Dallas had a lonely and possibly fearful life before he came to us. He does not appear to be convinced in the goodness of mankind. He may seem relaxed and curious one day and nervous and flighty the next. As a result of his lack of trust, Dallas does not handle change well. He has been known to pace or whine. Tom and Andi, his foster mom and dad, are teaching him about love. But his fur-ever family will be the ones to really make him understand how fabulous it can be to be loved unconditionally for a lifetime.
Dallas loves to be cuddled, whispered to and kissed. He would do best in a calm, stable environment with a patient and sensitive woman as one of his people. Other dogs are just fine with him as long as they aren't dominant. Cats are an unknown. Well-behaved children over 10-ish would be welcome friends. It is all about the love.
