About Spanky

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Sable
  • Housetrained: Yes
If we were to take an educated guess at the parentage of this little dog, we would think that a Sheltie and a Pomeranian had a secret rendezvous. But what we do know for sure, is that Spanky is a sprightly little bundle of energy, about 3-4 years old, a neutered male that has had updated vaccines and is all of 19#. Warm or cold, sunny or not, outdoors is like heaven to Spanky. He is generally the first pooch out the door and the last one to want to come in. He has no aggression toward bunnies or squirrels nor has he shown any desire to run off. He is quite content to stay in his yard and will eagerly play fetch with anyone who will oblige him. Games should be interspersed with car rides, leash walks and biscuit time. He has shown himself to be quite good with children from ages 5-8. Toddlers, babies and cats are an unSpankyknown. He is quite the cuddle bug too. A tummy rub is a big favorite and he would never turn down a full body massage. But most of all . . . Spanky longs to be next to you as much as possible. He truly loves to be in your arms. It is what he lives for. He sleeps well on a comfy doggie bed but of course, he would rather be on the bed with you and as close as he could possibly get. For the right family, he will be the most contented little pooch in the history of the world.

Please begin the process for adoption by reading our Adoption Policies and, if we sound like the right group for you, fill out our online Adoption Application. From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email. You then will receive a follow-up phone call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. Lots of good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out the screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously.  Please put a lot of thought into why you want to adopt a dog, and help us make a good match for your family. We appreciate your taking the time to visit with us. We will look forward to hearing from you as well.
