Cherokee Sara is a spayed female tri-color rough-coated Collie that is about 7 or 8 years old. She came to us from Oklahoma in October of 2014 and went to live with a family of first-time dog owners, initially as a foster dog. Those of you who have been privileged to watch a bond form between a Collie and a child can well imagine how two little girls felt on the first night they snuggled up to lovely Sara. Sara did everything right but the family has decided that they are not "dog people" after all and now Cherokee Sara is on the hunt again for a forever home. This time it has to be "fur-ever." Sara does have a couple of issues that make it important for folks to be aware of. She has a sensitive tummy and it took an Internal Medicine Specialist, Dr. Karin Cannizzo, to add a product called Platinum Performance Canine on her food once a day for intestinal support. She has not had a tummy problem since. And darling Sara has a fairly significant thunderstorm anxiety. As I have suggested many times, the addition of a Thundershirt is so miraculous and such a slam-dunk easy thing to help a dog with this kind of anxiety, that it is incredible that no one thought of this decades ago. Some dogs also need the addition of an herbal product to relax them but this too is easy. Because of the storm anxiety we will only consider potential adopters that are stay-at-home folks with a true passion for dogs and are willing for Sara to be a completely full-time member of the family with bedroom privileges at night.
