Lexi is a 13 month old purebred tri-colored Sheltie.  By the time you read this, she will have been spayed.

Lexi got a clean bill of health at the vet today.  Heartworm negative, all blood chemistries and CBC completely normal.  She is UTD on vaccines and microchipped with a Home Again microchip.  She will be spayed on Thursday with my favorite general surgeon, Dr. Barber, at Hilltop Pet Clinic here in Pueblo West, CO.

Lexi needs owners who are gentle and patient and fairly low key.  Shelties can be such shy creatures, in spite of the ones we see participating in agility and other dog sports.  In just 48 hours, she has decided that I am safe to let into her world.  She takes treats from my hand and has started to walk with me on a leash.  Maybe 20 steps but it is a start.  We will continue to build on that progress and hopefully, by the time she has recovered from her surgery, she will be dancing along with a human on the other end of the leash.  It is so important that she develops that trust.  It is the key to everything else she needs to learn to be the best dog she can be.

We will begin to accept applications for adoption for Lexi.  Please understand....a completed application is our first step toward any adoption.  Without a ton of information, we can't even have a conversation with you.  If you are not true blue, dyed in the wool, through and through SHELTIE PEOPLE, this is not the dog for you.

Lexi will be reviewing applications with me daily.  Her vote counts more than anyone's.

More about Lexie

Good with Dogs, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Good with Adults, Somewhat vocal, Requires a yard, Cratetrained, Timid, Gentle

Please begin the process for adoption by reading our Adoption Policies and, if we sound like the right group for you, fill out our online Adoption Application. From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email. You then will receive a follow-up phone call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. Lots of good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out the screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously.  Please put a lot of thought into why you want to adopt a dog, and help us make a good match for your family. We appreciate your taking the time to visit with us. We will look forward to hearing from you as well.
