Squishy (no, we did not name her that!) is the blue merle Collie half of the dynamic duo of Poppy and Squishy.  Squishy and Poppy will only be placed together!   Squishy is 9 1/2 years old and spayed, of course, and UTD on everything she should be including a recent dental cleaning with 10 extractions.  Her blood work is fabulous and she should have no out of pocket medical expenses for at least a year.

Squishy is sweet and gentle and extremely affectionate.  She is great with men, women and considerate children (no toddlers please at her age).  All pooches are her friends but we don't know about cats.  She smiles and looks into your eyes when you stroke her face.  We have toyed around with a couple of different names but will leave that in the capable hands of her new adopters.  She knows "Squish" but would learn to respond to whatever love names are reinforced.

Our first step toward any adoption is a completed application which you will find on our website at www.colliesheltierescue.org.  We will follow up with folks that we believe will be the best potential matches for the girls.  We check your vet reference and schedule a home visit (or digital photos if COVID-19 makes that impossible).  You will be interviewed by the Director and the foster mom.  If it all sounds cumbersome, we apologize.  We have used this same protocol for many years and will continue for many more, I hope.  The dogs are our primary concern but we love the humans who adopt too.

More about Squishy

Good with Dogs, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Good with Adults, Somewhat vocal, Does Good in the Car, Requires a yard, Leashtrained, Likes to play with toys, Prefers cool climate, Obedient, Playful, Affectionate, Eager To Please, Intelligent, Even-tempered, Gentle, Needs a companion animal

Please begin the process for adoption by reading our Adoption Policies and, if we sound like the right group for you, fill out our online Adoption Application. From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email. You then will receive a follow-up phone call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. Lots of good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out the screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously.  Please put a lot of thought into why you want to adopt a dog, and help us make a good match for your family. We appreciate your taking the time to visit with us. We will look forward to hearing from you as well.
