Snickers is one half of the Collie team. His best friend Foxter is the other half of the team. WE WILL NOT CONSIDER SEPARATING THE TWO COLLIES SO PLEASE DON'T ASK FOR ONLY ONE OF THEM. Snickers is a 3-year-old tri headed white rough Collie. His fur is rather short and curly and would cause him to be laughed out of the show ring. (Please don't tell him I said that.) He is quite tall and weighs 84# without an ounce of fat on him. His bloodwork is completely normal and so we are proceeding to a dental cleaning tomorrow. His back teeth are gloppy and he needs to be perfect when he goes to his forever home. All of his vaccines are onboard and he is microchipped with a Home Again microchip. Snickers is certainly not dominant although he is the leader of the dynamic duo. On leash, the boys circle around your ankles and sniff and circle some more. They could use a refresher course on leash walking. At this point in time, I am just thrilled that the boys are happily wandering around with me and enjoying their time outside. Off leash in the fenced backyard, they run with my pack and have even grabbed a couple of toys. They just came to me night before last, so we are making remarkable progress. Grooming of "the boys" is delayed to Valentine's Day. If the perfect application comes in, we can process it and might have these sweethearts in their forever home by the end of the weekend. Please complete the online application which you will find on our website at www.colliesheltierescue.org. That is our first step and until we have received that, you will not be considered for the Collies. From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email. You then will receive a follow-up phone call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. Lots of good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out the screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously. Please put a lot of thought into why you want to adopt a dog, and help us make a good match for your family. We appreciate your taking the time to visit with us. We will look forward to hearing from you as well. |
