Collie (medium coat) : : Male : : Adult : : Large
Handsome 7-year-old blue merle rough-coated Collie that is being retired from breeding. Rocco was raised in a home with multiple children. He has a crappy coat but a gentle personality. He should be the poster dog for why a double-coated Collie should never be shaved. Rocco displays one of the lesser known traits of blue merle Collies. They have a sense of humor. Rocco has a way of standing back a bit and looking at you with a twinkle in his eye. "Hmm....what can I do to make her laugh?" He is de-barked (which hurts my heart when I hear it) but it does not stop him from telling you everything he has thought since you hugged him last. So if barking drives you crazy, he is not the dog for you. He loves to go for a walk and sniffs as he goes. Let's talk about Rocco's health. He is recently neutered, UTD on vaccines, microchipped, heartworm negative and freshly groomed. His coat has been destroyed by repeatedly shaving him to the skin. Because his coat is short and wispy, he looks like a giant puppy and he acts like one, too. He pounces on toys and gets into the traditional play bow with everyone he meets. We should change his name to "Lets's go!" Collies are not for everyone. If you have never had one of the herding breeds, please do some reading before applying. And please believe me when I tell you that Collies are not giant Shelties. Each dog breed is fabulous in their own way and will make you smile. It just happens to be pencil-nosed dogs for us.
