If you have never lived with a smooth Collie, you haven't really lived at all!  Chip aka The Chipster, is silly and smart and fun.  There are two of these little rascals and they will be placed separately so that two families can have the joy of raising a fabulous puppy.  Applications first please.  Preference will be given to adults who spend a lot of time at home and kids old enough to really appreciate a growing pup.  And folks with former Collie experience go to the head of the class.

Chip is around 35-38# at 4 months of age.  I can't give you an accurate weight because if you close you eyes for a moment and then look again, he has grown.  He eats a combination of two excellent puppy formula kibbles, Taste of the Wild and Fromm.  About 1 1/4 cups three times a day.  This is a budget consideration.  If you can't afford A #1 care for a dog for his or her lifetime, it is better not to have a dog at this stage of your life.  That is an important conversation to have prior to adopting.

Chip's father was a rather large smooth Collie specimen at 70# full grown.  It is possible that Chip will be equally large.  He has done beautifully with all the dogs in his foster home, playing appropriately most of the time.  Every once in a while, he will do something that necessitates one of the senior dogs to remind him that he is just a pup.  We always feed dogs separately because it is the right thing to do.

Chip will be neutered when he is old enough.  Current veterinary literature recommends neutering be delayed until the pup is at least 6 months old in order to strengthen their bones.  We will comply.

Thanks for caring enough to look for a dog that needs you.  Collies and Shelties will return that love to you many times over.

Please begin the process for adoption by reading our Adoption Policies and, if we sound like the right group for you, fill out our online Adoption Application. From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email. You then will receive a follow-up phone call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. Lots of good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out the screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously.  Please put a lot of thought into why you want to adopt a dog, and help us make a good match for your family. We appreciate your taking the time to visit with us. We will look forward to hearing from you as well.
