Update...3/12/18 Bria's biopsies came back and HALLELUJAH!!! She does not have cancer. We did not realize that only about 50% of mammary masses are malignant. We do learn something new every day. She lost 16 teeth in her dental but the others cleaned up well. She is such a sweet little pooch but still unbearably shy. Please consider giving Bria her first real home. We know that her time will be shorter than either of you will want. But we also believe that a generous human who adopts a senior dog earns extra sparkles in their halo. *********************************************************************** Bria is one of the lucky ones. A breeding female in a puppy mill is an incubator for puppies and is only kept alive as long as she is "producing." Bria is 11 1/2 years old, scrawny, badly malnourished, anemic and has a mouth full of rotten teeth. She also has a chain of mammary tumors (breast cancer in humans). None of those things tell you why Bria is lucky. Bria is lucky because she got out of the mill alive and is beginning to understand the things that our beloved pets take for granted. Regular meals and the caress of a human hand. She will let her foster mom put a slip leash on her and show her where to "go potty." She has the softest blanket that any dog has ever had and she snuggles into it and closes her eyes as if to say, "I am safe and warm." Someday soon we hope she will know that it is not just a dream, it is forever. Bria is scheduled for a series of surgical procedures and we will combine some of them to reduce the number of general anesthetics she will need. The mammary masses are the scariest. We will let you know more when we know more. But for now, please send good thoughts and a little money, if your budget will allow it.
