Learn more about the Shetland Sheepdog Sheltie.
Cara is a little dumpling of a Sheltie. She is small but round-ish and very feminine. She had been neglected by an owner who had lots of excuses for the crummy standard of her care. (We don't believe there is ever a good excuse for not taking wonderful care of your beloved dog.) She has been in a foster home in Colorado Springs that truly understands what the human-animal bond is all about. And Cara has had a great deal of veterinary care since coming into her foster. Extensive bloodwork including a full thyroid panel (Cara is hypothyroid and has already dropped over 5#.), a comprehensive dental with extractions and multiple mass removals with biopsies. We have all been holding our breath while waiting for the biopsy reports. All the masses were benign! Hurray! As often happens in dog rescue, Cara's foster mom has fallen deeply in love with the little girl and the feeling is mutual. Cara and Gail, together forever. Congratulations, it's a girl!
