We wanted you all to meet "Dave."  Our good friends at DDFL e-mailed us about him when he was dropped of by a good Samaritan on 6/1.  Poor neglected little doodle.  But where to begin?

We started with a list.  Matted to the skin, geriatric, intact, severe dental disease with abscessed teeth and an oral nasal fistula, urinary incontinence, enlarged prostate, cloudy eyes.  BUT......with a bright spirit and a lovely couple willing to foster the little fellow, Ted and Joanne.

Dave has made huge strides.  He is neutered and is walking around without many teeth in his mouth but joyously chomping down his breakfast and dinner.  (I do believe Ted is sneaking him a couple of extra treats now and then.  He began his journey at about 13# and is pushing 16# now.  He adores his foster mom and dad.  He also adores his Sheltie foster brothers and sister.  A gaggle of Shelties is fun for the new guy to pattern after.  And the park across the street has lots of good smells.  There are comfortable dog beds to nap on and Dad likes to carry his new pal around on his shoulder to have him close in case a kiss in coming his way.  Not a bad life for a horribly neglected pooch!

Our prediction is that Dave will never leave his foster family's arms.  We call that foster failure although it is really the wrong term for the fabulous bond that forms in a instant.  And it is really just about the best news in the whole world.

Please begin the process for adoption by reading our Adoption Policies and, if we sound like the right group for you, fill out our online Adoption Application. From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email. You then will receive a follow-up phone call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. Lots of good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out the screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously.  Please put a lot of thought into why you want to adopt a dog, and help us make a good match for your family. We appreciate your taking the time to visit with us. We will look forward to hearing from you as well.
