About Tristan

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Sable
  • Housetrained: Yes
Tristan is a neutered male approximately four-year-old sable and white rough coated Collie. He housebroke himself with a doggie door, practically overnight. This is a smart dog with a gentle nature and a sense of humor to boot. I have seen him run through the dog door at top speed, make a right turn at the guest bathroom, vault over the couch and keep on going. He will be found lying upside down with a bone in his mouth, fast asleep. Tristan adores the company of other dogs and might be lonely or bored without a doggie pal to play with. He also enjoys the company of men, women and children. The kids should be 8 or over mainly because Tristan is a long, rangy Collie and toddlers could get knocked over with his exuberant energy. Tristan was a stray found out on his own in Colorado Springs with no identification and no one claimed him at the shelter. He still needs to put on another 15- 20 pounds to fill out his large frame. Perhaps his sensitive tummy plays a part in his being malnourished. But he is eating well on Precise Lamb and Rice Sensacare with no corn, wheat, soy or byproducts. Good quality food, exercise and play time and lots of love will make him strong and keep him on the right path for a long and healthy life. Please begin the process for adoption by going to our website at www.colliesheltierescue.org, reading our Policies and Guidelines and, if we sound like the right group for you, proceed to the online Adoption Application. From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email. You then will receive a follow-up phone call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. Lots of good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out the screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously. Please put a lot of thought into why you want to adopt a dog, and help us make a good match for your family. We appreciate your taking the time to visit with us. We will look forward to hearing from you as well.
