About Daisy

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Sable
  • Housetrained: Yes
This large sable and white Rough Collie was dropped off at a municipal shelter when the humans decided to get a divorce. “Driving Miss Daisy” is what our volunteer needed to do to get her to our Director’s house in Southern Colorado so there is the perfect name for her. Daisy has all of her vaccines, has had a dental to make her smile beautiful and is microchipped with a Home Again chip that will include her registration. Daisy is an 8-year-old spayed female with a fairly dominant personality. We were told that she had never been in a house before but she has taken to the dog bed kind of life easily. She is now housebroken and is delighted with her two square meals a day, a little on the light side to help her shed a few pounds. Today was the spa day for Daisy and we had the pleasure of seeing her have what may have been her first ever bath. She is not used to being brushed and fussed over but took it all with good grace and adored having a bubble bath. The photos of her are pre-bath and she is now much sweeter smelling and fluffy. When Daisy gazes into her future, she is looking to put aside her years of neglect and have the kind of life that Lassie would be proud of. A adult human or two to call her own, another dog friend to share a companionable life with, good quality food, a walk to smell the roses and someone to love. She comes to the side of the bed when the lights go out at night and puts her nose up for a pet. She smiles and settles down on a dog bed with a sigh. And when her eyes open up in the morning, she is grateful for the new day. She does not ask for a great deal and she is so deserving of a good life. Please consider making “Driving Miss Daisy” part of your family. Please begin the process for adoption by going to our website at www.colliesheltierescue.org, reading our Policies and Guidelines and, if we sound like the right group for you, proceed to the online Adoption Application. From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email. You then will receive a follow-up phone call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. Lots of good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out the screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously. Please put a lot of thought into why you want to adopt a dog, and help us make a good match for your family. We appreciate your taking the time to visit with us. We will look forward to hearing from you as well.
