Learn more about the Shetland Sheepdog Sheltie.
An 8-year-old girl chose the name "Sweet Tart" for this adorable 9# Sheltie. Sweetie was a stray in a municipal shelter here in Colorado and it is hard to fathom that her owner did not look for her. But their loss is a wonderful opportunity for one of our potential adopters for this Sheltie is a gem.
Sweetie is 1-2 years old, spayed, completely vaccinated, heartworm negative and microchipped. She enjoys the company of men, women and children. Other dogs are potential best friends but she does get overwhelmed by the multiple Collies in her foster home. She would be an absolute hoot in a multi-Sheltie household. After all, Shelties are like potato chips and no one should have just one!
Because of Sweetie's small size, we will place her with children only over the age of 8-10 depending on the individual children involved. I tease her about having "chicken legs" but it is true that tiny dogs require more gentle hands. As we speak, she is being carried around with a laptop computer to help design Barbie clothes by the same kiddo that named her.
Please begin the process for adoption by going to our website at www.colliesheltierescue.org, reading our Policies and Guidelines and, if we sound like the right group for you, proceed to the online Adoption Application. From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email. You then will receive a follow-up phone call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. A good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out our screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously. Please put a lot of thought into why you want to adopt a dog, and help us make a good match for your family. We appreciate your taking the time to visit with us. We will look forward to hearing from you as well.
