Collie (long coat) : : Male : : Young : : Large
Mack is a one-year-old tri-colored rough Collie with a ton of energy and a good heart. He came to us as an owner relinquishment from some folks that thought a puppy sounded like fun and discovered it is hard work to raise a dog. He has made great progress and has the potential to be an absolutely glorious Collie, one that will make people stop and ask questions about where he came from. Mack was pretty scrawny when he arrived but Taste of the Wild puppy formula is wonderful for good nutrition and good, solid poop. He was not housebroken but is now crate-trained and 90% trustworthy in the house. He is still apt to snag a piece of paper and run madly through the house, daring the other dogs to try and get it away from him. I am usually in the race as well, begging him not to eat it!
Mack is now neutered, up to date on vaccines and micro-chipped with a Home Again chip. He is also heartworm negative and has great baseline blood chemistry and CBC. He had his first ever brushing, trimming and bathing and we all survived it, although I am sure that I was wetter than Mack. He is spending time with an 8-year-old child and is a bit overwhelming for her. Kids over 10 or 12 will be better suited to the dog with the nickname of Grasshopper because he still goes BOING, BOING, BOING. He does not mean to run people over but it happens. As he spends more and more time as a part of the family, he is learning the skills he needs to be a beloved family pet. And your family might be the family he has been dreaming about.
Look at this beautiful boy and imagine watching him continue to grow and thrive. His frame is full sized at 55# but he will come into his full glory in the next year or so when his chest drops and his coat thickens. Grooming is a huge part of having a Collie, so please consider this budget item when you think about Mack.
