Collie (short coat) : : Male : : Senior : : Large
Bandit is an "older but elegant" gentleman of a tri-colored Collie. At 12 years old, he moves a little slowly and would prefer to live in a single story house rather than hoofing up and down the stairs. We have added some supplements to his diet to ease his arthritic joints and promote some much needed skin and coat improvement. Collies and Shelties have the beautiful, long double coats that require quite a bit of attention and an owner that is willing to have a meaningful relationship with a professional groomer if they don't have time to do the coat care themselves. BamBam's owner shaved him. That means he needs a Bronco's jersey if he is going to be in the direct sun. We hope his glorious coat will grow back in. Time will tell.
Bandit is a very affectionate dog. If you stop snuggling or petting him and he is wanting more attention, he looks directly into your eyes and lets out a "woof." Just one little "woof." He is a low maintenance kind of fellow. A cushy dog bed, premium quality senior dog food and lots of love. He enjoys the idea of going for a walk but in reality a "walk" is the length of 6 or 7 houses and back home again. Just enough time and distance to smell the flowers and check the neighborhood for new and exciting things, like kids going to school. He has obviously had kids in his background and truly enjoys them. He is past the stage of having toddlers pull his tail though and if there are going to be new kids in his life, they need to be 10 or older.
Bandit is quite healthy in general, is neutered, heartworm negative, has all updated vaccines andf is microchipped. Copies of his bloodwork, etc. will be in a file for his new family. And he will go to his forever home with the love and admiration of our organization for taking on a senior dog that will love you until his time comes to go to the Rainbow Bridge. We should all be so lucky,
