OUR FIRST STEP TOWARD ANY PLACEMENT IS A COMPLETED ADOPTION WHICH YOU WILL FIND ON OUR WEBSITE AT www.colliesheltierescue.org.  WITHOUT THAT INFORMATION, WE WON'T HAVE A BASIS   FOR A CONVERSATION.    PLEASE READ THE BASIC REQUIREMENTS...PRIOR EXPERIENCE WITH THE BREED, A SECURELY FENCED YARD, A FABULOUS REFERENCE FROM YOUR VETERINARIAN AND A TON LO LOVE TO SHARE.

Cannoli is the name we have chosen for this precious Sheltie.  He is white and sweet and fluffy.  He is a 3-year-old neutered male, UTD on all vaccines and in great general health.  Although Cannoli is deaf, he functions quite normally and has been quick to learn the hand signals his foster mom is teaching him.  He is housebroken and sleeps well in his crate at night.  But he is a dog that wants a human or two to be his close companions.  He enjoys other dogs and loves cats and kids as well.  (No toddlers please!)  But his humans will receive all the attention and love he can bestow on them.  He is affectionate and gives sweet little Sheltie kisses and immediately lowers his ears and wags his tail when he sees you heading his way.

Cannoli is extremely high energy and when he gets overly excited, he will start doing Sheltie spins and barking.  A light touch will interrupt this behavior.  You should see him playing tug with a rope or a stuffed toy that might be demolished in the process.  And a young sturdy companion dog that will not be bowled over by his rough play would be a source of joy for him and take the edge off his energy.  Walking on a leash is a work in progress.  We have been using a PetJoy harness for better control but the excitement of seeing other dogs is a bit too much for  him right now.  Practice, practice, practice.

Please don't apply for Cannoli just because he is beautiful and young.  And please don't bother applying if you do not have Sheltie experience, it will not be a successful match.  RMCSR is all about making the perfect match for each dog and their forever family.  But the first step comes from you.  You know how terrific you are.  Tell us all about it.
