Sweetie, along with her English Shepherd buddies Rufus and Jasmine, have gone to be a part of National English Shepherd Rescue.  The breed specific rescues were expressly designed to have the folks who are most knowledgeable  about their breeds be the ones arranging the placement of the dogs needing their help.  So we have been very lucky to find the volunteers of National English Shepherd Rescue who were so gracious and willing to help with these dogs.  We will miss them but the folks with the most expertise should be making these decisions.  Please contact    nesr.info   and tell them Hope sent you.

A COMPLETED APPLICATION IS OUR FIRST STEP.  YOU WILLL FIND IT ON OUR WEBSITE AT www.colliesheltierescue.org.  WE NEED A PLACE TO START A CONVERSATION ABOUT ANY OF OUR ADOPTABLE DOGS.  THANKS FOR UNDERSTANDING.  AND PLEASE DO SOME READING ABOUT THIS BREED BEFORE APPLYING.  THEY HAVE A LEVEL OF DRIVE THAT IS MUCH DIFFERENT FROM OUR FAIRLY RELAXED COLLIES AND SHELTIES.

Sweetie is a shaded sable and white spayed female English Shepherd that has lived her entire life here in Colorado.  Her ideal forever home with be with a parent that has adult children.  Because of an unfortunate incident with small children when Sweetie was a puppy, she is fearful of kids and we would not want her to be uncomfortable.  A leader of the pack that offers positive encouragement and bonding experiences would be just right for her.  English Shepherds are velcro dogs.  And Sweetie is especially so!

Sweetums was slow to warm up to me.  But once she saw the other dogs taking treats from my hand and crawling in my lap, she figured out that I would be her good friend.  And now she lets me brush her and pet her and she licks my fingers along with the  other pooches.  To win the affection of an intelligent dog like an English Shepherd, you need to respect who they are and not be in too much of a rush to insist that they treat you like the center of the universe.  They will come to adore you but it will take time.

Sweetie is UTD on vaccines and microchipped with a Home Again chip.  She is heartworm negative and her blood chemistries and CBC are all normal.  She will come with the food she likes and her favorite toys and Interceptor, which is the safest heartworm preventative for the herding breeds.  But most important, she will be bringing all the love that little body can hold.  Just for you

All the same rules apply as for any other adoption from Collie and Sheltie Rescue.  A securely fenced yard, a fabulous reference from your vet and a home visit.  Please tell us all about your selves in great detail so that we can make the best possible match between you and your next best friend.  Thanks for looking in.  We can't wait to hear from you.
