Jasmine and her English Shepherd companions Rufus and Sweetie have gone into the care of National English shepherd Rescue.  Breed specific rescues came into being because they know the nuances of their specific breed and can therefore make the very best matches for the lifetime of the dogs.  If you are interested in one of these three dogs, please go to   nesr.info  and tell them Hope sent you.

A COMPLETED APPLICATION IS OUR FIRST STEP.  YOU WILL FIND T ON OUR WEBSITE AT www.colliesheltierescue.org.  WE NEED A PLACE TO START FOR A CONVERSATION ABOUT ANY OF OUR ADOPTABLE DOGS.  THANKS FOR UNDERSTANDING.  AND DO SOME READING ABOUT THIS BREED BEFORE APPLYING.  THEY HAVE A LEVEL OF DRIVE THAT IS MUCH DIFFERENT THAN OUR FAIRLY RELAXED COLLIES AND SHELTIES.

Jasmine is a 4-year-old spayed female purebred English Shepherd.  The English Shepherd is sort of a "country cousin" to Collies, Shelties and Aussies.  She is 58# and should trim down to about 50#.  (So sayeth the vet!)  She has a gentle and loving demeanor and will snuggle and mooch her way into your life before you know it.  She is also housebroken and will just need to be reminded every four hours or so through her transition to a new home.  When she met a 10 year old boy the other day, she thought he was pretty cool.  But she would not mind being the only dog in a family.  Or she could share her life with another companionable pooch.

In the evening, Jazz will patrol the perimeter of her domain to make sure that everything is as it should be.  And then she will plop down beside you on the sofa or on your feet to watch a movie or read an Albert Payson Terhune book.

Jazzy is UTD on vaccines and has a Home Again microchip.  She is also heartworm negative and her blood chemistries and CBC are all normal.  She will need some additional work on leash manners as well as some obedience commands.  But she is so smart that it won't take long for her to show off her newfound skills.

All the basic rules apply for adoption.  A securely fenced yard, a great reference from your vet and a home visit.  And Jazz will be helping screen the applications.  She is just that smart!

Please begin the process for adoption by reading our Adoption Policies and, if we sound like the right group for you, fill out our online Adoption Application. From there, our receipt of your completed application will be confirmed by email. You then will receive a follow-up phone call if we feel you are a good potential applicant for the dog. Lots of good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out the screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously.  Please put a lot of thought into why you want to adopt a dog, and help us make a good match for your family. We appreciate your taking the time to visit with us. We will look forward to hearing from you as well.
