Learn more about the Border Collie. Learn more about the Australian Shepherd.
This darling little fellow is Patrick. He has come to Colorado to seek his good fortune. He is not a dog of a single breed but has the charm and good looks of multiple dogs. He is smart and full of fun. He likes men, women and well-behaved children. But he would prefer to be an only pet. NO OTHER DOGS AND NO CATS! Patrick does well with some dogs and definitely not well with others. In his foster family, he plays like mad with 7 other dogs, mostly full-sized Collies. So, go figure! Patrick may be a combination of Border Collie and Australian Shepherd. Or he may have a dab of Collie or Great Pyrenees in his background. His markings are Collie-ish but his fur is getting curlier each day. My husband calls him an All-American Dog. We will begin the process of looking for the right match for Patrick. We will only consider folks with a completed application which you will find on our website at www.colliesheltierescue.org. A fenced yard is required along with at least one fun-loving pooch who will play with Patrick until they both drop from exhaustion. LOL No apartments please. We must be able to contact your veterinarian for a reference and we expect it to be a good one. It will be important to Patrick to have a family that has both the time and energy for a 5 month old puppy and will promise to love and cherish him for the next 12-14 years. We will either do a home visit or get well-documented digital photos. When the time comes to invite a family to meet Patrick, the entire family must be willing to make the trip to do so. And I will be the one crying as Patrick gets to go home with his forever family. Because I love him already. Lots of good conversation with the foster family, a reference from your veterinarian, and a home visit round out the screening process. We take dog adoption very seriously.
