Collie (medium coat) : : Female : : Young : : Medium
A completed application for adoption must be submitted before we will chat with anyone about Calypso. Calypso is a spayed female sable and white rough coated Collie that is 12-18 months old. She came to us from a shelter in Olathe, Kansas along with another dog that may be her brother (with a total stranger as his father!) Calypso is learning all the things a good Collie should know. She seems to be completely housebroken and has learned to "sit" on command when offered something yummy. We are working on leash walking and she greeted everyone politely at the vet today on her leash. We reviewed her records and got some baseline bloodwork (blood chemistries and CBC). She is a healthy girl. And now that I had some help to bathe her, she is white and fluffy and ready to meet potential adopters. Callie is typical of the adolescent dogs we see from shelters everywhere that were purchased when they were cute little puppies and put into a backyard to raise themselves. Thankfully, she has not been abused and her spirit is still bright. She likes all humans and seems to accept all dogs. Cats are an unknown. We are looking for a home for sweet Calypso where she will be a full-fledged member of the family. No more backyard living for her. She happily sleeps upside down on a dogbed, eats and drinks well and learns new skills every hour of the day. A good level 1 group obedience class would be her first step toward becoming the dog you want her to be. A completed application is our first step toward any adoption. You will find it on our website at www.colliesheltierescue.org. If we already have your app on file, just let us know of your interest in Calypso. And let's see if we can't find her just the right family in time for Thanksgiving. We would all be grateful for that.
